If you are a Registered Nurse with experience in Emergency or Critical Care, this is an exciting time to join Niagara Health System as an ER Nurse.

Several permanent full-time Emergency Nurse positions are available immediately at our Niagara Falls and St. Catharines sites. If you are an ER Nurse or a CCU Nurse interested in working at the Niagara Health System we encourage you to apply. While certification or training related to Emergency is preferred, we will consider qualified RNs who are willing to become certified.

Working in the Emergency Department to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centred care and high professional standards, you will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. Your objective as a Registered Nurse will be to provide safe, competent care by applying nursing knowledge and the technical aspects of professional practice, acquired in an ER or CCU setting, and demonstrating compassion, professionalism and respect at all times. As an ED Nurse, you will also perform other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the unit.  


To join our ER team, you must be an experienced and qualified Emergency Room Nurse or Critical Care Nurse whose knowledge base and skill set include:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Two years of related clinical Emergency experience in the past five years.
  • Current BCLS and Critical Care certification.
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
  • Certification in delegated controlled acts, including defibrillation, dispensing medication and application of energy.
  • ACLS, PALS and TNCC certification preferred.
  • Emergency Nursing certification (CNA) preferred.
  • Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale training preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy Initiation, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring and interpretation, and care of ventilated patients / clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment (Physical Assessment Course preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an integrated plan of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation.
  • Current knowledge of emergency nursing standards in accordance with the National Emergency Nurses Affiliation (NENA).
  • Ability to integrate reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem-solving.
